Looking at the Teltonika RUT955 or RUT956?
Compare them with the LINBLENET T300-390.

The RUT955/956 add serial I/O and GNSS to the RUT950 platform. Here is the factual side-by-side for integrators — including what to verify before you commit.

What carries over — and what is genuinely different

What carries over

  • Serial I/O for meters, PLCs and field devices — present on both
  • Dual-SIM with automatic failover, like for like
  • 5 Ethernet ports vs 4 — one port more for the device that would otherwise need a mini-switch
  • Same wiring pattern: RJ45 LAN, serial terminal block, wide DC input

What to check honestly

  • GNSS: built-in on the RUT955/956; optional on ours — confirm per configuration before specifying it in a tender
  • Cloud platform: Teltonika RMS is mature. If fleet management is central to your offer, evaluate both
  • Serial detail: our single serial port is RS-232/485 configurable; the RUT955/956 provide both simultaneously — if your design genuinely needs two serial ports at once, verify this on the bench

What you gain

  • One serial SKU instead of fixed factory variants — fewer order errors, less stock
  • Solder-down (chip) SIM support for high-vibration and unattended sites
  • 5G option on the same family when a project needs more uplink

How to evaluate with zero risk

  • Keep the RUT955/956 where it already works
  • Take 1 unit, run your own protocol test on your own bench
  • Keep it as second source for the weeks the main supplier slips
  • MOQ 1, stock ships in 5–7 working days (industry norm: 4–8 weeks)
On dual-SIM, stated plainly: dual-SIM with automatic failover is resilience, not a guarantee. The session re-establishes after a failover (measurable seconds, not zero), and two SIMs on the same carrier fail together. Design the application to tolerate a re-connect — and never write "uninterrupted" into a tender on the strength of dual-SIM alone.
